Michael Schultz (born November 10, 1938) is an American director and producer of theater, film and television. Life and career. Schultz was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of an African-American mother Katherine Frances Leslie (1917–1995), [failed verification] and Leo Albert Schultz (1913–2001), an insurance salesman of German descent.

Sep 30, 2021 · Michael Schultz was a prolific and influential African American director who made 14 features from 1972 to 2004. He paved the way for Spike Lee and John Singleton with his films Cooley High and Car Wash, but his legacy is often overlooked.
Schultz would go on to make prominent films such as Scavenger Hunt (1979), Carbon Copy (1981), and Disorderlies (1987). More recently, Schultz has worked in television, piloting episodes of such style-conscious series as The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and Picket Fences, as well as an abundance of made-for-TV movies.
