  3. Kerry tells us in the booklet that he had known Dio's voice already from Elf which was Dio's pre-Rainbow band, but that he didn't know Ronnie James personally before. Kerry handpicked Dio for these songs and he was pleased that he agreed to sing on the album.

He had written lots of material which didn't fit to Kansas' style and he considered to release it on his own album. However, as he became born-again Christian, he wanted to make a Christian album.

  6. The most surprising was Ronnie James Dio, at the time the vocalist for Black Sabbath. Talk about two worlds colliding! The two songs Dio appears on are hands down the best two tracks on the album. The song "Mask of the Great Deceiver" is very Kansas-esque and Dio's vocals on the song bring in a harder edge.
