Liu Zhenyun (born May 1958) is a Chinese novelist and screenwriter. He is best known for his novel Someone to Talk To (awarded the 2011 Mao Dun Literature Prize) as well as his involvement with the many film adaptions of his books.
Liu Zhenyun, one of China’s best-known authors and screenwriters, was born in 1958 in Yanjin County, Henan Province, where he grew up in a rural village.
His award-winning short stories have explored life in China's state-owned companies and bureacratic offices, but his most celebrated novel, My Name is Liu Yuejin, tells the story of a migrant worker who has his bag (containing all his worldly possessions) stolen in Beijing.
