Charles Macarthur. Charles Gordon MacArthur, the second youngest of seven children born to William Telfer MacArthur and Georgiana Welsted MacArthur, was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, on 5th November, 1895. As a child he took a keen interest in reading and had ambitions to become a writer.
