Guitarist Russell Malone first worked with master jazz organist Jimmy Smith in 1988, and toured with Harry Connick, Jr. from 1990 to 1994. During the late nineties Malone toured internationally with Diana Krall, receiving critical acclaim both in concert and on her recordings.
He's mostly self taught, having started on a toy guitar when he was 4. A first call guitarist, his discography is really a who's who of jazz. He's worked with the great Jimmy Smith, Harry Connick Jr, Diana Krall and is part of Ron Carter 's Trio along with Donald Vega.
