Zhang Yimou (simplified Chinese: 张艺谋; traditional Chinese: 張藝謀; pinyin: Zhāngyìmóu; born 14 November 1951) is a Chinese filmmaker. [3] [4] [5] Considered a key figure of China's Fifth Generation filmmakers, he made his directorial debut in 1988 with Red Sorghum , which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival .
Yimou Zhang was born on 14 November 1951 in Xi'an, Shaanxi, China. He is a director and writer, known for Hero (2002), House of Flying Daggers (2004) and Curse of the Golden Flower (2006). He has been married to Ting Chen since December 2011.
