This Dark World. Carolyn Briggs is now an associate professor of English at Marshalltown Community College in Iowa. She and I arranged a time for a phone interview in early May [2012], and one of my first questions was about her book’s original title. Was she saying fundamentalism was a “dark world” that she was glad to leave?
