Stu Levy’s lyrical and metaphorical transformations are photographs about interactions of mind, body, and soul. They bring responses to the land, which are directed by Levy’s manipulations of light by the use of photography’s multiple means of control, which engage us in new visual, emotional, and metaphysical experiences.
Stu Levy is a photographer living in Portland, Oregon. He has led photography workshops on the Oregon Coast for over 30 years. He studied with Ansel Adams and was an assistant instructor for Ansel’s workshops in Yosemite and Carmel; he was also an instructor at the Ansel Adams Gallery Workshops.
Stu has loved photography since he was a dark room-dwelling youngster, developing his own black and white images. In the era of digital photography, it has become easy for everyone to become an amateur photographer, and Stu enjoys uploading his iPhone pics, along with some more thoughtful work from his Canon 5D.
Stu produced and directed the film. All of the crew, including Stu, volunteered to make it, and all of the profits from it will be donated to the non-profit organization JEN for their Tōhoku reconstruction projects.
