Plot. In 586 BC the city of Jerusalem was destroyed by the armies of king Nebuchadnezzar and its people were brought captive into Babylon. After decades of subjugation by their Babylonian masters the Jews are crying out for a saviour.
In Babylon, Nebuchadnezzar falls into senility as prophesized by Daniel and before dying, pleads for the wise man's forgiveness. Belshazzar, determined to destroy the Jewish slaves, frees them, but sends them into a canyon, where they are encircled and the paths around them set afire by the king's soldiers.

Slaves of Babylon is an adaptation of Old Testament stories set in the 6th century BC. The Jewish people are literally slaves of Babylon, ruled by King Nebuchadnezzar, but the prophet Daniel foresees a path to freedom.

The Jews are taken from Jerusalem and made slaves by King Nebuchadnezzar. In the meantime Cyrus, king of the Persians, who has been living as a shepherd, is proclaimed king and defeats Nebuchadnezzar.
