Jun 3, 2024 · This temporary final rule will apply to EAD renewal applicants eligible to receive an automatic extension who timely and properly filed their Form I-765 applications on or after Oct. 27, 2023, if the application is still pending on April 8, 2024.
The automatic extension of up to 540 days under the May 2022 TFR was available to eligible EAD renewal applicants whose Form I-765 was pending on May 4, 2022, or whose EAD Forms I-797C, Notices of Action, have a “Received Date” from May 4, 2022, through Oct. 26, 2023.

Apr 8, 2024 · Under the temporary final rule, the automatic extension period for qualifying EADs will revert to up to 180 days for applicants who timely file Form I-765 renewal applications after Sept. 30, 2025.
May 9, 2022 · This extension, applies to those EAD categories currently eligible for an automatic up to 180 day extension, will temporarily provide an additional 360 days of EAD extension time (for a total of up to 540 days) to eligible applicants with a timely-filed Form I-765 EAD renewal application.
