Nijenhuis is the first Dutch director awarded with five Platinum Films. He started in television, making a career as show runner. At the age of 25 he pushed the daily prime time soap opera "GTST" to the top of the ratings. His cinema debut "Costa!' propelled him to direct over 16 feature films.
