Erik Artur Olson (Ohlson, Olsson) ( Halmstad 9 May 1901 – 1986) was a Swedish painter, illustrator, graphic artist, sculptor, theater decorator, and member of Halmstadgruppen. He was the brother of artist Axel Olson, and in 1929 married Solvig Sven-Nilsson.

Calgary-based artist Erik Olson is known for his imaginative and innovative approach to painting. Recognized for his powerful portraiture as well as his deeply personal explorations of landscape and color, his work utilizes scale to express the larger context of the human experience.
There is a clear cubist inspiration in Olson’s work, meaning that conventional notions of time and space are completely thrown out the window. Instead of just capturing the still life of a sitter, Olson deconstructs portraits and rebuilds them as vibrant mosaics that have come to life.
