Yoshihisa Hirano (平野 義久, Hirano Yoshihisa, born December 7, 1971) is a Japanese composer and arranger. He is best known for composing the scores for anime series, such as Death Note, Hunter × Hunter (2011), and Edens Zero. He has also made the orchestration for video games, mostly in the Final Fantasy franchise.
Yoshihisa Hirano studied composing at Juilliard School in 1992, and later at Eastman School of Music. Some of the awards he has received include first prize in the Axia Tape Competition in Japan during his high school years and New York's New Music for Young Ensembles.

平野 義久Yoshihisa Hirano. EN. JP. 1971年12月7日和歌山県新宮市生まれ。 5歳よりヴァイオリンを始める。 バロック音楽に魅了され、小学生の頃から独学で作曲を始める。 高校時代にジャズと邂逅、また、ジョン・ゾーンへの心酔を契機に現代音楽に心惹かれるようになる。 一方で、ショスタコーヴィチの交響曲に強い感銘を受け、本格的な作曲の修行を決意する。 高校卒業後紆余曲折を経て渡米、イーストマン音楽院で作曲をクリストファー・ラウス、ジョセフ・シュワントナー両氏に師事する。 バタイユ、クロソウスキー、マンディアルグ、ジュネら20世紀フランスの作家・思想家に傾倒し、授業もそっちのけで多くの時間を読書、そして作曲に費やす。 紆余曲折を経て同院中退、その後帰国。
