Ian McFadyen (born 8 July 1948) is an Australian television writer, actor, director and producer. He is best known as the creator and producer of the Australian television series The Comedy Company, which he also directed and wrote episodes for, and performed in, which ran from 16 February 1988 to 11 November 1990.
Originally from the North West of England, Ian McFadyen worked for many years in sales and marketing in the leisure, education and electronics industries before starting a career as a writer. Currently based in Hertfordshire in UK, McFadyen has had eight books published in the Carmichael series, with his ninth close to completion (he says).…
I'm Ian McFadyen, author of the DI Carmichael series. Originally from Liverpool, I now plot Carmichael's next adventures from Hertfordshire where I live with my wife, Chris. Currently all the books I have written are for the DI Carmichael series.

Ian McFadyen. Ian was the son of the Motherwell legend Willie McFadyen. Like his dad, Ian was a native of Wishaw. A student at St Andrews University, Ian was a clever schoolboy footballer, he began his career with Dundee Ashdale Amateurs before moving to Tannadice to Join Dundee United.
