Olivier Alary is a Montreal-based musician and composer. Trained in architecture, sonic arts and instrumental composition, Olivier is interested in exploring the grey area between music and noise. For the past ten years, he has provided soundtrack for over forty feature-length film.
After six years, composer Olivier Alary returns to LINE with 'Apparitions (Vol.1)', an album exploring the idea of hauntology music for acoustic instruments. His previous album for LINE, the well-received 'Pieces for Sine Wave Oscillators' (LINE_089), was released in 2017 and was on 'Best of 2017' lists for Experimedia and Lend Me Your Ears.
In parallel with his film music work, Olivier is currently writing instrumental pieces centered around the musical representation of the spectrality of memory. Through notation and instrumental techniques, his works explore the transcription of "auditory ghosts".
