Dragon's Kiss is the first studio album by guitarist Marty Friedman, released on August 8, 1988, through Shrapnel Records (United States) and Roadrunner Records (Europe). The album was reissued on CD in 1991.
Deen Joseph Castronovo (born August 17, 1964) is an American drummer and singer best known for being a member of classic rock band Journey and hard rock acts Bad English and Hardline. He currently plays drums and shares lead vocals for the bands Journey , Generation Radio, and Revolution Saints .
I remembered the melody when I was writing for Dragon's Kiss. There is some gnarly drumming by Deen Castronovo on this tune. At the time, we were unable to 'punch in' the drummer if he made a mistake. Deen made very few mistakes, but in a 7 minute song like "Forbidden City" getting it perfect in one go is almost impossible.
Another highlight is the untouchable drumming by the ever-so humble Deen Castronovo. Deen's probably one of the hardest working studio musicians in the industry in terms of drummers. One must at least respect Deen's desicion to go from playing in Bad English, to straight forward speed and thrash metal music.
