"I’m gonna be making a slow comeback," he wise-cracked to Rolling Stone in 1973. 27 years later, Dan Hicks has released "Beatin’ The Heat". The album continues that unique blend of psychedelic-laden jazz and swing, clever songwriting and hot instrumentation which drew underground acclaim in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
Beginning with Beatin’ the Heat (featuring Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Bette Midler, Ricki Lee Jones and Brian Setzer) in 2000, Hicks returned to releasing albums with a reconstituted lineup of the Hot Licks on Surfdog Records.
