According to reports, he met a high school girl through social media, and allegedly forced her to send her naked photos to him.

Feb 22, 2024 · Koichiro Ito, 52, stands accused of coercing a 15-year-old girl he met over social media into sending him nude selfies in September 2021, Japan’s Mainichi Shimbun newspaper reported Thursday.
Koichiro Ito is a Professor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy. He received a BA from Kyoto University, an MA from University of British Columbia, and a PhD from the University of California, Berkeley.
Koichiro Ito is an environmental and energy economist who studies consumer and firm behavior in electricity markets. He has won several awards for his research and book on causality analysis, and serves on the editorial boards of American Economic Review and Japanese Economic Review.
