Ross Dimsey (born 16 October 1943) is an Australian writer, producer, director and film executive. He was born in Melbourne and worked in Britain and America from 1969 to 1969. He worked in a variety of capacities on a number of films.
In 1982 Ross Dimsey was finishing his contract as head of the Victoria Film Corporation and was looking for a project to do. Robert Ward of Filmways introduced him to the novel.

The film was greatly shortened by producer Ross Dimsey and Ellis described the making of the movie as one of the worst experiences of his life. Ellis: It was one of the best scripts I've ever written.
