John B. Keane (1928–2002) was a writer, humorist, and publican from Listowel, Co. Kerry. He wrote over sixty plays, mostly set in rural Ireland, that explored themes of love, death, emigration, and social change.

John B. Keane. 21 July 1928 - May 2002. John B. Keane was born in Listowel, Co. Kerry, where he ran a pub which provided him with inspiration for his characters. His first play, Sive, was presented by the Listowel Drama Group and won the All-Ireland Drama Festival in 1959.
