Salter Street Films was a production company that was established in Canada by the Donovan (Michael and Paul) brothers in 1983. It was acquired by Alliance Atlantis in 2001, which maintained it as a wholly-owned subsidiary with its own distribution unit until 2003.
Salter Street Productions was founded at Halifax in 1979 by Michael and Paul Donovan, and incorporated in 1983 as Salter Street Films. Its first feature film, "South Pacific, 1942", a black comedy, was not a commercial success. Succeeding films, "Siege" (1984) and "Def Con 4" (1985) were moderately profitable.

Michael Donovan co-founded Salter Street Films with his brother Paul Donovan in 1983. Though the company got off to a slow start, Donovan eventually had major success with projects such as the Canadian satirical comedy series This Hour Has 22 Minutes. He co-created the series Made in Canada .
In 2001, the company purchased Salter Street Films, which produced a number of television shows for both the Canadian and international market. However, soon after the acquisition, Salter Street was disbanded and its active projects were transferred to Alliance Atlantis' own television production/development division.
