Oct 7, 2009 · Just got word that legendary Texas guitarist Leon Chambers passed away this morning. Not unexpected, given his worsening condition the past few months, but sad nonetheless. The big swing band upstatirs just got one hell of a guitar player.
Convicted of murdering a black police officer in 1969 in Woodville, Mississippi, Leon Chambers was sentenced to life in prison. His conviction was overturned in 1972 when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the exclusion of witness testimony deprived Chambers of a fair trial.

Leon Chambers (born 17 April 1998) is an American-born Australian representative rower. He was twice an Australian U23 national champion and represented in the lightweight double-scull at the 2019 World Rowing Championships.
Above the Clouds is a feature film directed by Kent filmmaker Leon Chambers who has directed a number of film shorts including Stolen Youth, Lonely Hearts and The Long Lonely Walk, which won five Film Festival awards.
