John Stacpoole Haycraft CBE (11 December 1926 – 23 May 1996) was an English language teacher and author who founded the International House World Organisation, which has shaped the evolution of the profession of English language teaching (ELT).

A fervent internationalist, John Haycraft strove to promote international understanding through language learning and teacher training. Expanding from their base in London, teachers who had trained with IH were encouraged and supported to start their own schools in towns and cities around the world.
It was compiled by Brita Haycraft, co-founder of International House. John Haycraft was, of course, the original chronicler of IH stories, Babel in Spain (Hamish Hamilton 1958) and Babel in London (Hamish Hamilton 1965) and Adventures of a Language Traveller (Constable 1958).
