Daniel James Dailey Jr. (December 14, 1915 – October 16, 1978) was an American actor and dancer. He is best remembered for a series of popular musicals he made at 20th Century Fox such as Mother Wore Tights (1947).
Not to be confused with Daniel A. Dailey. Daniel Joseph Daly (November 11, 1873 – April 27, 1937) [1] [2] was a United States Marine and one of nineteen U.S. servicemen to have been awarded the Medal of Honor twice. Daly and Major General Smedley Butler are the only Marines who earned two Medals of Honor for two separate acts of valor. [3]
Born in New York City, Dan Dailey started his career in vaudeville, later making his Broadway debut in the stage version of "Babes in Arms". When signed to MGM, the studio initially casted him as a Nazi in The Mortal Storm (1940).
Dailey was tired, this night. "The Odd Couple" is a physically demanding comedy, requiring him to be onstage almost every minute, playing a growling, loud, recently divorced sports writer who makes the mistake of inviting a friend in marital difficulty to move into his bachelor's squalor.
