Sir Lewis Thomas Casson MC (26 October 1875 – 16 May 1969) was an English actor and theatre director, and the husband of actress Dame Sybil Thorndike.
Sir Lewis Casson was a British actor and theatrical director who was married to the legendary actress Dame Sybil Thorndike. He played a role in modernizing the British theatre, expanding it to embrace social critiques as well as new techniques, and was an advocate for a National Theatre.

Lewis Casson. Lewis Casson, the son of Thomas Casson, a bank-manager, was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, on 26th October 1875. Soon after he was born the family, that included at this time seven children, moved to Denbigh in Wales and he was educated at Ruthin School.

Lewis Casson had a rich, powerful bass voice, and was a versatile character actor as well as a celebrated producer. He played some hundreds of parts and continued to work until 1968. As a dedicated member of his profession he was for many years one of its leaders, having built up the actors' trade union movement.
Dame Sybil Thorndike and her husband Sir Lewis Casson were a popular and celebrated theatrical couple from the 1920s onwards. Both acted from an early age; Thorndike beginning her professional career with Ben Greet, Casson with Poel and the Vedrenne-Barker company at the Royal Court.
