Biography. Modernist painter and one of the founders of American Abstract Artists, a New York City organization devoted to exhibiting abstract art. Browne specialized in still life in the style of Synthetic Cubism, influenced by his friends John Graham, Arshile Gorky, and Willem de Kooning.

Byron Ellis Browne (born December 27, 1942) is an American former professional baseball outfielder, who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs, Houston Astros, St. Louis Cardinals, and Philadelphia Phillies, between 1965 and 1972.

Byron Browne (1907–1961) was a painter and printmaker who participated in the American Abstract Artists group. MoMA has four of his works in its collection, including Homage to Michelangelo and Girl with Bows.
Byron Browne’s founding membership in the American Abstract Artists (AAA) must have been odd given his aversion to wholly abstract art as practiced by the leading Abstract Expressionists of his day.
