Early life. Elisabeth Clara (or Claira) Heath-Sladen [2] was born 1 February 1946 in Liverpool, England. Sladen was the only child of Tom Sladen (1900–1994), who fought in the First World War and served in the Home Guard during the Second World War, and Gladys (1902–1978) (née Trainer). [2]
