Hansa Wadkar died on 23 rd August 1971 in Bombay. Shyam Benegal made a film on her autobiography (Sangte Aika) – Bhumika (1977). Hansa's role was essayed by Smita Patil while Bandarkar was played by Amol Palekar. The film was very successful and won many awards.
