    Early life and career

    Alex was born in 1953 to Russell and Dorothy Murphy. As a child, he was close friends with Frank Uno. He attended Mother Theresa Elementary School, St. John-Paul High School, and Holy Trinity College. He graduated with honors from the Burton Academy.
