Sylvia Margaret Kay (16 May 1936 – 18 January 2019) was an English character actress who had many roles in British television programmes, most notably as Daphne Warrender in the BBC sitcom Just Good Friends.

Sylvia Kay’s first significant part as an aspiring actress was to understudy Vivien Leigh, then at the height of her fame, in a play called Duel of Angels at the Apollo. She was 22 and, soon taking over the leading role as Paola, made a passing remark to a newspaper diarist that she intended to perf.
