In 1996 Kamen, together with Richard Dreyfuss and Stephen Herek, established the non-profit Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation. They were inspired by working together on the acclaimed and Oscar nominated motion picture “Mr Holland’s Opus” and its story of the profound effect that a motivated and dedicated music teacher can have on their students.
First off, I wanted to talk to you about your latest CD, MICHAEL KAMEN'S OPUS. How did you go about picking your music? The real request came from the record company to choose anything I liked from my own work, and anything I liked is the operative word.
