Karl Schäfer (17 May 1909 – 23 April 1976) was an Austrian figure skater and swimmer. In figure skating, he became a two-time Olympic champion at the 1932 Winter Olympics and the 1936 Winter Olympics. He was also a seven-time World champion (1930–1936) and eight-time European champion (1929–1936).

Karl Schäfer was a child prodigy, excelling both in sports and music. He won seven Austrian titles in the swimming pool, and competed in the 1928 Olympics in the breast stroke. He was more successful in figure skating, which he learned on Eduard Engelmann's rink, the first artificial outdoor rink.

Karl Schäfer (May 17, 1909 in Vienna – April 23, 1976 in Vienna) was an Austrian figure skater and swimmer. In figure skating, he was the 1930-1936 World Champion and the 1929-1936 European Champion. He won the gold medals at the 1932 Winter Olympics and the 1936 Winter Olympics.

Along with Gillis Grafström and Dick Button , he is one of only three skaters to win an Olympic men's title more than once (not counting Evgeni Plushenko who won an Olympic men's and team gold medal).
