Phutthaloetla Naphalai (Thai: พระบาทสมเด็จพระพุทธเลิศหล้านภาลัย, 24 February 1767 or 1768 – 21 July 1824), personal name Chim (Thai: ฉิม), also styled as Rama II, was the second monarch of Siam under the Chakri dynasty, ruling from 1809 to 1824.
Rama II is a science fiction novel by Gentry Lee and Arthur C. Clarke, first published in 1989. It recounts humankind's further interaction with the Ramans, first introduced in Rendezvous with Rama.
Rama II (born Feb. 24, 1768, Rat Buri—died July 21, 1824, Bangkok) was the second ruler (1809–24) of the present Chakkri dynasty, under whose rule relations were reopened with the West and Siam began a forward policy on the Malay peninsula.

Phuttaloetla Nabhalai, Rama II, now known as Buddha Loetla Nabhalai (February 24, 1767 – July 21, 1824), was the son of King Rama I and Queen Amarindra, he was born at his mother's home at Amphoe Amphawa in present day Samut Songkhram Province. He was the second king of the Chakri dynasty.
