Michael Conway Baker (born March 13, 1937) is a Canadian composer and music educator of American birth. He became a naturalized Canadian citizen in 1970 and has lived more or less continuously in the Vancouver area since.
A Passionate Film & TV Composer. Michael Conway Baker is one of the most renowned and prolific composers in Canada and has many honors in the field of music. Michael first gained prominence in 1986 when he wrote three pieces for the World's Fair "Expo '86."
Michael Conway Baker, composer, teacher (b at West Palm Beach, Fla 13 Mar 1937). Baker moved to Canada in 1958, where he studied composition with Jean Coulthard and Elliot Weisgarber at the University of British Columbia, becoming a Canadian citizen in 1970.
Michael Conway Baker was born in West Palm Beach, Florida, on March 13, 1937. The son of vaudeville and radio comedian Phil Baker, he showed great aptitude for music from an early age. In 1958, after high school graduation, Baker moved to Vancouver, his mother ‘s native city.
