John Richard Schlesinger CBE (/ ˈ ʃ l ɛ s ɪ n dʒ ər / SHLESS-in-jər; 16 February 1926 – 25 July 2003) was an English film and stage director, and actor.
John Schlesinger was an Oscar-winning director who made acclaimed films such as Midnight Cowboy, Darling, and Sunday Bloody Sunday. He also directed for theater and opera, and died in 2003 at age 77.
