Nicholas Wulstan Park was born on 6 December 1958 in Preston, Lancashire, to seamstress Mary Cecilia ( née Ashton; born 1930) and Roger Wulstan Park (1925–2004), an architectural photographer. [13] The middle child of five siblings, he grew up in Penwortham; the family later moved to Walmer Bridge.
