14 July 1921 to 14 January 2006. An innovative film editor as well as a director, Swiss-born Colpi earned praise for his stylistic breakthroughs on Hiroshima Mon Amour (1959) and Last Year At Marienbad (1961). His directorial debut Une Aussi Longue Absence (1960) won a prize at Cannes.
