The Cement Garden. Summaries. Four children live with their terminally ill mother. After she dies, they try to hold things together. In their isolated house, they begin to deteriorate mentally, whilst they hide their mom's decomposing corpse in a makeshift concrete sarcophagus.
The horror of death contrasted with British 1980s suburbia is perfectly done, with lots of arty shots of cement and plants really driving home the nature vs. society theme.

Dec 25, 1993 · Overview. After the death of her husband, the mother of Julie, Jack, Sue and Tom begins to suffer from a mysterious illness. Aware that she is going to have to go into hospital she opens a bank account for the children, so that they can be financially self-sufficient and will be able to avoid being taken into care by the authorities.
