Nov 13, 1987 · Ben Richards (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is desperate – he needs money to treat his daughter’s illness. His last chance is entering a game show called The Running Man where the objective is to elude police and specially trained trackers for a month. The reward is a cool billion dollars.
America is a totalitarian society. Schwarzenegger is a cop who flies his own helicopter gunship and is ordered to fire on citizens who are rioting for food. Refusing to fire on innocent civilians, he is knocked unconscious, jailed, accused of false charges and assigned to a penal colony.
Directed by Paul Michael Glaser. 2019. A game nobody survives. This year might be the exception. By 2017, the global economy has collapsed and American society has become a totalitarian police state, censoring all cultural activity.
