The Romance of Astrea and Celadon (French: Les Amours d'Astrée et de Céladon) is a 2007 historical romantic comedy-drama film written and directed by Éric Rohmer and starring Andy Gillet and Stéphanie Crayencour.
We meet the handsome Celadon (Andy Gillet) and the beautiful Astrea (Stephanie Crayencour), shepherds and in love, not long before a tragic misperception breaks Astrea's heart, and Celadon hurls himself into the river in remorse.
Astrea strangers herself from her beloved Celadon after been entraped by a persuer. Celadon, mad and in despair, throws himself in a river. He is believed to be dead, but he is secretly saved by Nymphs.
Misled by a jealous suitor, Astrea orders Celadon to stay away from her for evermore. In his despair, he jumps into a rushing river. She thinks he is dead, but he is secretly rescued by a bevy of nymphs.
