Synopsis. In 1961, senior CIA officer Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) receives a photograph and tape recording after the failed Bay of Pigs Invasion, and obtains a coded signal from "Cardinal." In 1939, attending Yale University, Edward is invited to join Skull and Bones.
A disappointing spy thriller about the history of the CIA, directed by Robert De Niro and written by Eric Roth. The film fails to capture the intrigue, suspense and drama of the real-life events and characters, and suffers from a dull and incoherent screenplay.
