Glad Tidings is a 1953 British comedy film directed by Wolf Rilla and starring Barbara Kelly, Raymond Huntley and Ronald Howard. It was based on the play of the same title by R. F. Delderfield and made at the Nettlefold Studios in Walton-on-Thames.
What you might not know is that he once played a romantic lead in a film when he was middle-aged: and here it is. Based on the play by RF Delderfield, this 1950s low-budget comedy is about a retired RAF officer who returns to Blighty with his American fiancee (top-billed Barbara Kelly), and his family are not pleased at all.
'Glad Tidings' is frankly a fairly lame attempt at middle class domestic humour in the early 1950's. It has a incredulous and unlikely storyline, where a young and pretty American women, played by Barbara Kelly, is 'dating,' the stuffy, pompous and middle aged Raymond Huntley, the chairman of the local and equally stuffy golf club.
