The True Story of Ah Q is an episodic novella written by Lu Xun using third-person narration perspective, first published as a serial between December 4, 1921 and February 12, 1922. It was later placed in his first short story collection Call to Arms ( 吶喊; Nàhǎn) in 1923 and is the longest story in the collection.

May 9, 2015 · The True Story of Ah-Q (originally called "Ah-Q Zheng Zhuan" or 阿Q正传) was a film made in 1981 in China, directed by Fan Chen and starring Fumin Bao, Xi Chen, and Yikang Jin. It got nominated for the Cannes Film Festival in 1982 and the 1982 Golden Rooster Awards for Best Costume Design.

By far the most famous, if not the greatest, of modern Chinese stories is Lu Xun 's "The True Story of Ah Q" ("Ah Q zhengzhuan"). It was published in 1921 and collected in 1923 in Call to Arms ( Na Han ). Ah Q, the name of the protagonist, has become a household word.

His grandfather, Zhou Fuqing, was a prominent government official, but his reputation was damaged after he, along with a number of other wealthy families, bribed officials to pass his son (Lu Xun's father) on his civil service examination.
