Quadrophenia is the sixth studio album by the English rock band the Who, released as a double album on 26 October 1973 by Track Records. It is the group's third rock opera , the previous two being the "mini-opera" song " A Quick One, While He's Away " (1966) and the album Tommy (1969).
Quadrophenia is a 1979 British drama film, based on The Who's 1973 rock opera of the same name. It was directed by Franc Roddam in his feature directing debut. Unlike the adaptation of Tommy, Quadrophenia is not a musical film, and the band does not appear live in the film.
Quadrophenia was originally released as a double album by Track Records in November 1973 (Track 2657 013). Released to coincide with The Who’s first UK and US tours for two years, it reached #2 in both countries’ album charts.
