Feb 27, 2004 · "Broken Lizard's Club Dread" is a definitive demonstration, if one is needed, that "The Real Cancun" was way too real. Filmed in Mexico but allegedly set on "Coconut Pete's Pleasure Island" off the coast of Costa Rica, it's a head-on smashup between spring weekend and a machete-swinging slasher.
When a staff member relays an old story about a murderer, it divides the staff. The death of an employee eventually sends the rest of the staff into a full-on manhunt for the killer. Guests are found dead, the electricity goes out, and even Coconut Pete is murdered.
