Mariscal tries valiantly to recreate the MexRev blockbusters of the late fifties -- La Cucaracha and such -- but his late sixties cast doesn't have the star-power to pull it off at the same level; Rodolfo de Anda and Irma Serrano are *not* Pedro Armendariz and Maria Felix. They just aren't.
