- American English Coonhound. Descended from English foxhounds, the American English coonhound is an American breed specifically bred to hunt raccoons. These dogs are intense hunters and thrive in a pack.
- Australian Kelpie. This tireless, hardworking herding dog from Australia is very intelligent, eager to please, and energetic. Australian Kelpies need a great deal of daily exercise, but can also relax happily near their family at the end of the day.
- Azawakh. This speedy sighthound is an ancient breed from West Africa used for racing and hunting. The Azawakh is a very independent, intelligent, and loyal breed that doesn't show affection as openly as some other breeds, but is very devoted to its family and suspicious of strangers.
- Bergamasco Sheepdog. An Italian herding dog, the Bergamasco sheepdog has a striking coat that naturally forms thick mats and requires very little maintenance.

- Lagotto Romagnolo. Curly-haired Italian dog breeds are so darn cute and cuddly, and the Lagotto Romagnolo is no exception. “Their name means ‘water dog’ in Italian, but they are commonly called ‘truffle dogs’ because they are used to hunt for truffles,” explains Catherine Lenox, DVM, the scientific affairs manager at Royal Canin.
- Sloughi. You can see why this unique dog is nicknamed the “Arabian greyhound,” as the resemblance is uncanny—and they are one of the fastest dog breeds in existence.
- Kai Ken. We can’t get enough of super cute Japanese dog breeds, including the Kai Ken. Their showstopping, striking brindle coat is uniquely beautiful.
- Australian kelpie. When it comes to herding sheep, the Australian kelpie is the blue-chip candidate for rounding up the herd, whether the herd consists of sheep, other dogs or kids.
- Otterhound. Amiable and boisterous, the Otterhound is a large hunting breed originating in England. As its name suggests, the breed was developed for otter hunting.
- Bergamasco Sheepdog. The Bergamasco is a unique breed easily recognized by its coat. With three types of hair, the coat forms flocks of hair weaved together, giving it a felted look.
- Polish Lowland Sheepdog. Compact, alert, and adaptable, the Polish Lowland Sheepdog is a beloved watchdog from Poland. Their nickname (PON) is the acronym for the Polish breed name, Polski Owczarek Nizinny.
- Skye Terrier. The Skye Terrier is canny, courageous, and good-tempered. Agile and strong, this terrier is a breed with elegance and dignity. The breed is loyal and devoted to its family, although sometimes stubborn.
- Tibetan Mastiff. Originating from the snowy landscapes of Tibet, the Tibetan Mastiff is a very large breed. Their massive size, complemented by a noble bearing, is accentuated by an impressive double coat.
- Swedish Vallhund. The Swedish Vallhund might look short and stocky, but they are both athletic and versatile. Hailing from Sweden, this Scandinavian dog breed are small yet powerful and fearless.
- Bedlington Terrier. Bedlingtons are playful and cheerful but less rowdy and calmer indoors than many of the terrier breeds. Once outside these terriers change from docile into fun-loving, fast and energetic dogs.
- Finnish Spitz. With a striking resemblance to a fox, the Finnish Spitz captures attention with its erect ears, beautiful dense coat, and bushy tail. These dogs, native to Finland, are known for their intelligence and brisk movements.
