The Tokyo Night Sky Is Always the Densest Shade of Blue (Japanese: 夜空はいつでも最高密度の青色だ, Hepburn: Yozora wa itsu demo saikō mitsudo no aoiro da) is a 2017 Japanese romantic drama film directed by Yuya Ishii. It is based on a book of poetry of the same name written by Tahi Saihate and published in 2016.
In Tokyo, Mika (Shizuka Ishibashi) works as a nurse during the day and at night serves beer at a girly bar. One evening, she meets Shinji ( Sosuke Ikematsu ) who works as a day laborer. They become attracted to each other.

Mika works as a nurse by day; by night she entertains covetous men at a girls’ bar. Shinji is blind in one eye and ekes out a living as a construction worker. Young and grown-up at the same time, they both lead a lonely existence.
The Tokyo Night Sky is Always the Densest Shade of Blue takes as its origin a poetry collection by Tahi Saihate. Released in May of 2016, it had by the end of the year recorded sales of 27,000 copies, an enormous figure for a book of poetry.
Mika (ISHIBASHI Shizuka) works as a nurse by day and at a girls’ bar by night. Feeling chronic anxiety, Mika constantly deals with death and dying people daily. Meanwhile, Shinji (IKEMATSU Sosuke) is almost blind in one eye and lives from hand to mouth as a construction worker.
