“Les Portes de la Nuit” is a strange film. It’s part film noir, part rubber film, part melodrama, part fantasy. The viewer gets an insightful depiction of post-liberation France and strikingly captured shots of Paris, still gloomy and marked by the scars of war, but regaining its liveliness.
