Lover's Grief over the Yellow River (simplified Chinese: 黄河绝恋; traditional Chinese: 黃河絕戀; pinyin: Húanghé júeliàn) is a 1999 Chinese film directed by Feng Xiaoning. It was China's official Best Foreign Language Film submission at the 72nd Academy Awards, but did not receive a nomination.
With Jing Ning, Paul Kersey, Xinjun Wang, Tumen. The film tells the story of a grounded American pilot during the Second World War who learns about the noble spirit of the Chinese poeple when he is rescued by the communist-led Chinese army after an emergency landing near the Great Wall.

In the middle of World War II, US pilot Owen crash-lands behind enemy lines in Japanese-occupied China. Owen is rescued by the Chinese guerilla army and falls in love with soldier An Jie. Now the small group must try and make their way back to saftey by crossing the Yellow River.
